"All things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive."

Here's the website for the Summer Impact Japan trip:

http://www.summerimpactjapan.com/

Here's the description of the trip:

Through intentional friendships made with Japanese college students, watch as God unfolds your part in what He is doing in the world's largest unreached people group. Focused mainly on a highly relational ministry style, you'll get a chance to join native and foreign staff as they live life among the Japanese people. We have different activities to encourage your friendships, such as outings, parties, sports, and small-group English classes. Along with sharing your heart with Japanese students and making a lasting contribution to Japan, we offer you the opportunity to be challenged yourself, as Navigator staff will provide stimulating input throughout the summer.

If you would like to pray for the trip, here are some things that are on my heart and some things God has promised:

From Isaiah 49:

6 He says, "It is too small a thing that You should be My Servant To raise up the tribes of Jacob and to restore the preserved ones of Israel; I will also make You a light of the nations So that My salvation may reach to the end of the earth."

Pray that God would make our team a light of the nations and use us help the staff reach Japan with His salvation.

8 Thus says the LORD, "In a favorable time I have answered You, And in a day of salvation I have helped You; And I will keep You and give You for a covenant of the people, To restore the land, to make them inherit the desolate heritages; 9 Saying to those who are bound, 'Go forth,' To those who are in darkness, 'Show yourselves.' Along the roads they will feed, And their pasture will be on all bare heights. 10 "They will not hunger or thirst, Nor will the scorching heat or sun strike them down; For He who has compassion on them will lead them And will guide them to springs of water. 11 "I will make all My mountains a road, And My highways will be raised up. 12 "Behold, these will come from afar; And lo, these will come from the north and from the west, And these from the land of Sinim."13 Shout for joy, O heavens! And rejoice, O earth! Break forth into joyful shouting, O mountains! For the LORD has comforted His people And will have compassion on His afflicted.

Pray that God would fulfill this promise in this generation of the Japanese, comforting and having compassion on His afflicted.

From Isaiah 58:

10 And if you give yourself to the hungry And satisfy the desire of the afflicted, Then your light will rise in darkness And your gloom will become like midday. 11 And the LORD will continually guide you, And satisfy your desire in scorched places, And give strength to your bones; And you will be like a watered garden, And like a spring of water whose waters do not fail. 12 Those from among you will rebuild the ancient ruins; You will raise up the age-old foundations; And you will be called the repairer of the breach, The restorer of the streets in which to dwell.

Pray that our team would eagerly give ourselves to the hungry and afflicted, and that God would fulfill His word to make our light rise in the darkness in Japan. Pray that He would fulfill His promise that we would rebuild ancient ruins, and be repairers and restorers for the Japanese.

Would you join me in claiming these passages for the Japanese? Let us watch how God fulfills His promises and works in Japan this summer.

(n__n*)!

(above is a japanese style emoticon! though I still kinda made it up..)

..yay! I'm so excited for the stories you'll write here of God's work in Japan! I will pray!

And...ok, if I already told you this, then that's cool too, but if not, know what's really cool?!!? Isaiah 58:10-12 was our "theme song" during SIJ 2006! Joni Poon came up with a song on the guitar and used those words exactly (it's also the Bible passage UCI likes to claim for itself). We sang it all summer! I'll need to teach it to you - and to Susan so she can play it on all of her instruments!
